Listen Now: Subject Lines
[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]Want to write a good email? Start with a good subject.
The subject line of your email is the bridge between whether what you wrote will be read or sent to trash. But that doesn’t mean you should give away your entire message in the subject, instead you want the recipient to see it and want to know more.
With that in mind, the job resource site Inc.com has a few mistakes to avoid when writing your subject line. For example you only have a few words so don’t make them meaningless. Don’t write something like “hey” and the person’s name.
And don’t get cute with multiple question marks or exclamation points. This gives the impression you aren’t putting thought into what you’re writing. Imagine your email is one of a thousand the person has to go through, suddenly writing “hey” as a subject seems like a waste of everyone’s time.
For more mistakes to avoid plus how to write a solid subject line, check out the full list of tips now. You can’t make your case if you message never gets read.
