Listen Now: Starbucks Emergency: Needle-Disposal Boxes Added To Bathrooms
Starbucks is making an addition to its bathrooms and it could become a sticky situation with customers.
The coffee giant says needle-disposal boxes will be added to bathrooms in some locations after workers reported finding blood and discarded needles inside. A spokesperson for the company says the boxes will solve an issue that could expose workers and other customers to serious health concerns.
The problem has become so bad that the company is also training employees on how to safely handle and discard needles found. However if any employee feels uncomfortable they can alert their manager and remove themselves from the situation.
Starbucks says the bathrooms that will get the special boxes will be in select markets based on factors including foot traffic. The boxes will be hard plastic containers that can contain needles and other sharp instruments without the chance of them puncturing a trash bag and an unsuspecting employee.
Experts say this might have a negative effect on customers especially following the company’s new open bathroom policy.
Let’s see if these changes slow down the foot traffic from the paying public.
