Listen Now: The Extra Step: Top Tips to Stand Out on Your Next Job Search
Desperate times call for desperate measures… and hopefully a job.
The job market is competitive. There’s always going to be someone more qualified, better educated or more willing to put in the extra work. So how do you make yourself stand out?
For a few ideas MSN Money has put together a list of some of the more outrageous ways people have made themselves known to their hiring manager. For example, one man put his name on a billboard launching the “Employ Adam” campaign.
He says when he graduated college in 2012 he had trouble landing a job. So he spent the last of his money on a billboard that read, “please give me a job.” That plus the website helped him get sixty interviews and eventually an offer.
Another person used legos to build their resume, demonstrating that she really could do everything listed in that 3D resume. One woman used a game of rock, paper, scissors to convince the person interviewing her she was right for the job.
So take that extra step, the worst they can do is say no.
