Listen Now: SpaceX’s First Private Passenger: Japanese Billionaire Selected
[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]We now know the name of the man who is upgrading from international to intergalactic travel.
Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, founder of the online fashion retailer Zozo will be the first private passenger of SpaceX, elon musk’s space transportation company.
Musk says Maezawa, who will take the trip in 2023 is very brave to take this journey, but he won’t be doing it alone. Maezawa says he will be inviting six to eight artists to join him on the moon flyby. He says he wants them to be inspired by what they see, and on their return to earth create a piece of art based on the trip.
The amount he spent on the journey isn’t being disclosed but Maezawa is no stranger to dishing out large sums of money on everything from high-end cars to a private jet to one hundred and million dollars for a painting.
Maezawa who will be in his late 40s when the trip takes place says he has not started training for it yet, but here’s hoping he has a strong stomach.
