Snapchat + Amazon Announce Crazy New Way To Buy

by | Sep 27, 2018

[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]Snapchat is making your wish list a little easier to come by.

In a rare partnership, Amazon is announcing its joining forces with Snapchat to corner the market on social network shopping. Together they are rolling out a feature that will make it easier to spend your hard earned money.

Users can snap pictures of a physical item or barcode with their Snapchat camera. This brings up a card showing that item or similar ones with title, price, average review score and whether it’s available from Amazon Prime.

When you tap on the product you want to purchase, it takes you to the Amazon app or site to buy. Here’s how it works. Snapchat determines if you’re scanning a song, barcode or object.

Amazon’s machine vision tech then recognizes logos, artwork, packaging or other identifying marks to find the product. The new feature will be rolled out to a small percentage of users here in the U.S. before it goes international.

Now you just have to watch out for people taking pictures of what you’re wearing, instead of asking where you bought it.
