Listen Now: Shelter Music: A Brand New Playlist For Philadelphia Pups

The music director of the Philadelphia Orchestra has just finished a project for music lovers who might otherwise never hear his work. He has curated a playlist that is piped into the shelter at the Pennsylvania Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals.
The playlist was debuted a week ago and so far is a hit with the four-legged residents. The music director says he was inspired to pitch the project by watching his own cat’s reaction to the music. He says he wanted to create a more soothing environment for shelter pets waiting to be adopted.
Some of his suggestions are specifically ideal for afternoon cat naps. Plus, if the animals are calmer and happier it might make the adoptive process a little smoother. The music is also a welcome treat for potential owners who are visiting the shelter for a family member.
