Think nobody would want to buy your used shoes, think again. I’m Brian Banmiller on business.

Nike is launching a new service it’s calling Nike updated. The idea is to collect shoes that have been returned by customers, inspect them, clean them up and put them back on store shelves. To qualify the shoes have to be returned within sixty days of purchase and can’t be in terrible condition. The three categories accepted are “fresh” for shoes worn one or two days. “slightly used” for those that have a couple more days on them and “minor cosmetic defect” for any tears during wearing. Anything returned but considered ineligible for the program will be donated to charities or crushed for recycling. The service is already in a number of stores around the country with more planned. The panel behind the idea says it’s an example of a circular economy. Producing shoes made from recycled materials. One of its newest models is made from recycled polyester and foam. The company says its ultimate goal is zero waste and zero carbon footprint. Now you can help out whenever buyers’ remorse hits. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
