Retirement is supposed to be the best time of your life, but not all that glitters is gold. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Everyone works towards being able to retire and live out their golden years in style. But here’s the thing, you do have to work for it. Recently the employee benefit research institute surveyed 2,000 people between the ages of sixty-two and seventy-five. And according to theladders.com the most important takeaway from the survey is that most of them wished that they had saved more money in their earlier working years. Of the entire group only 18% were satisfied with the amount of money they had saved and had available to live on. Another unfortunate result, the people less satisfied with their life in retirement had some form of debt. They wished they had been able to get themselves out of the red before their income stopped. Another survey by the same group found that only forty one percent of people had calculated how much they would need to retire worry-free.
