Pedal DesksFinding it a little hard to focus? Consider pedaling your way to success. Bethany Lambeth teaches math at a middle school in Raleigh, North Carolina. Last year she heard about desk cycles, pedals that sit on the floor and allow students to pedal while in class. Using money from a grant she had them installed in her classroom and says since then she has noticed a change in her students. She says the amount of missed work has gone down and they seem to be more focused. She says students know if they are stressed or upset they can spend a period pedaling out their frustrations. The organizers say the increase in quality work is because pedaling while at work or in school gives people a place to channel their nervous energy. Then they’re able to get more things done and increase productivity. Administrators at the school say they used the pedals during the summer months and enjoyed burning the calories while doing things like answering phones. This comes after things such as the standing desk and treadmill desk. Saves working out on your lunch break.
