Bill Murphy Junior is author of the continuously updated e-book “How to Raise Successful Kids.” now in its seventh edition he looks at science-based studies and parenting advice for putting your kids on the path to success. And some of it comes down to the habits you create for yourself. For example, don’t let up on them. Set high expectations and be consistent in your messaging even when you get a lot of attitude back. According to a study out of Great Britain, kids whose parents had high expectation were less likely to be unemployed for long periods of time, more likely to obtain a college degree and less likely to end up in a dead-end job. Here’s a habit to avoid, praising them with things such as “You’re so smart” or “You’re so kind. Instead praise them for the effort they put into a project.
