Scented Sellouts: McDonald’s Quarter Pounder Appreciation Is A Hit

McDonald’s is rolling out some new products, but you can’t eat them.

The golden arches is celebrating almost fifty years of its best-selling burger: the quarter pounder. That includes the launch of an online fan club with items that include mittens, a 2020 calendar, a pin and stickers.

One popular item was a line of scented candles. They come in a pack of six and each was designed to smell like part of the burger. They include bun, ketchup, pickle, cheese, onion and beef. The company said it suggests lighting them all at the same time to get the smell of the quarter pounder sizzling in your own home.

Unfortunately, that was too good an offer to pass up and the candles quickly sold out online. In addition to the new merchandise, McDonald’s will also build a statue of a quarter pounder in one yet to be named U.S. city. The sesame seeds on this statue will be twenty times larger than the one you order.

McDonald’s is also celebrating fifty years of the shamrock shake. No candles for that anniversary yet.
