Instagram Fights Back: Anti-Bullying Features To Launch Soon

by | Jul 14, 2019

[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]Find it hard to filter yourself on social media; soon you might not have a choice.

Instagram is taking steps to prevent cyberbullying by rolling out some new technology. In one example someone who wants to post a comment that says “you are so ugly and stupid” will be asked, are you sure you want to post this with an undo button. The company says from early tests, once people have a chance to think about what they’re saying, many aren’t so quick to be mean.

Another technology being tested is the new “restrict” feature. This is designed to protect users from unwanted interactions. If you are restricted, you will be the only person who can see the comments you post.

Restricted users will not be able to see when an account is active or when a person has read their direct messages. The goal of all this is to give users a way to block or unfollow accounts without escalating situations. This way, if some of your friends are too eager to share their many opinions, you don’t have to hear them.
