Apple is making a bigger investment in Hollywood. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Apple is planning to build a massive 550,000-square-foot office complex in Los Angeles. It will serve as the company’s headquarters for the region. Experts say the move signals growing ambitions for the tech company on a different kind of screen. And with hits under its belt such as “Ted Lasso” and “The Morning Show” it’s off to a good start. Apple told Variety its new campus will be a mixed-use facility but did not give specific details as to what kind of production studio space will be part of the development. It’s also unclear if all or just some of the jobs at the new facility will be related to production for the streaming service Apple TV. Construction is underway and so far, the company is not saying when the new buildings will be up and running. In the competitive world of streaming, Apple is lagging behind Netflix and Disney but it’s still in the race. Time to see if Apple is more than products that begin with an “i”.
