Listen Now: Ghosted
Being ghosted by a friend hurts, being ghosted by a potential employer can cost you. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
Ghosting is a term for when you suddenly stop communicating with another person. It happens a lot in the world of online dating and according to indeed is becoming more common in the workplace. A recent study from Indeed found eighty-three percent of employers report being ghosted by someone they were trying to hire. Now that number is rising between recruiters and people trying to land a job. So how do you avoid ending up on the wrong end of the silent treatment? According to the job resource site ladders dot com there are traits you can highlight to remain relevant. For example, over-communicate. Promptly returning phone calls and emails is essential. Keep your recruiter informed of your desire for work and remember to thank them for their time. There is however a line between communication and being annoying, try not to cross it. And while you’re talking don’t keep them waiting. Answer their questions when you get them. For more tips go to banmilleronbusiness.com. Be memorable. Brian Banmiller, CBS news.
