Listen Now: Dutch Plane Lands in Croatian Man’s Backyard
After twenty-three years of traveling the world, a Dutch jet has found a new home in someone’s backyard.
A man in Croatia is turning his lifelong love of planes into a tourist attraction. After years of flying around Indonesia, Mexico, Brazil and Croatia, the Fokker-100 plane is now parked in his garden. The proud new owner has not said how much he paid for the plane but his plan is to rent it out for events such as weddings and children’s birthday parties.
Right now, the plane which was built to carry one hundred passengers, has been stripped of all the seats, the engines and cockpit equipment. What’s been left behind are the throttles. He said the plan is to install flight simulators which can help stir up a little interest in the permanent lawn fixture.
It took six weekends to break down the plane into several smaller pieces. Then another five days was spent transporting those pieces, putting them back together and painting everything. Opening day is March eighth… at least guests on this plane will have plenty of legroom.
