The castle was never part of the novel Dracula” but the man who inspired the story might have set foot there. The castle earned its nickname because of its jagged towers and unwelcoming surroundings. The idea behind Dracula comes from Romania’s 15th century ruler known as Vlad the Impaler. Known for his cruelty he was famous for impaling Turks and thieves on wooden stakes.
