The holidays looked a lot different this year—but for one family, it was better than ever.
For one New York City family, Christmas came with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—spending the night at the famous toy store FAO Schwarz. The special night was a collaboration between the store and Airbnb.
The listing was only available for a limited time and in order to stay, you had to prove you were a New York resident. The pandemic made it impossible to open the competition for people outside the city.
Members also had to live in the same household and the space was thoroughly cleaned before the overnight adventure.
With that done, the family had a night to remember. FAO Schwarz set up accommodations in the store, including beds. There was a living room which looked out on the giant Christmas tree in Rockefeller Plaza. The dining area was the ideal spot to enjoy a feast with enough sugar to get a sugar buzz. They also had free run of the store and a shopping spree.
Not a bad way to spend a lockdown.
