A Golden Opportunity
Listen Now: A Golden Opportunity
There’s a new restaurant in Los Angeles, and business is golden. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
A Beverly Hills bistro has been transformed into the golden girls kitchen with people coming from all over to get a taste. Organizers of the pop-up received the blessing from Disney which owns the rights to “Golden Girls”. So they took the theme and ran with it. When you first walk in fans are greeted by a bartender at the shady pines bar. Further inside is a replica of the women’s kitchen counter complete with the yellow wall phone. Keep going and you’ll walk into Blanche’s bedroom, with props including the banana leaf bedspread and wallpaper. The menu, devised by the executive chef includes lasagna, which Sophia often cooked on the show. And of course, various flavors of cheesecake. The organizers say people of all ages are checking in with syndication bringing in the younger fans. The pop-up is only taking reservations through late October but it could be coming to a city near you. There are now plans to launch it in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and of course, Miami.
