Listen Now: The #1 Hottest Halloween Candy of 2019 (Hint: It’s Not Snickers)

[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]There’s a lot of options for what to hand out to trick or treaters, but only one is a fan favorite.

When it comes to Halloween some homes give out raisins, some give out apples. And if you want to avoid being egged you’re ready with a giant bowl of candy. But what are the costumed kids hungry for?

According to a survey by RetailMeNot the most popular candy is M&M’s. The bite-sized chocolate pieces beat out last year’s winner, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, by one percent. Rounding out the top three is Kit Kat.

Experts say M&M’s came out first because of all the options the brand offers. Besides plain chocolate, there’s also peanut butter, and limited-edition flavors such as Halloween cocoa crisp, pecan pie, and english toffee peanut. This means there’s something for everyone, which gives M&M’s the edge over other candy companies.

Also in the top five, Snickers in fourth place followed by candy corn. Candy corn, which most people seem to throw out at the end of the night, topped Skittles.

Guess there’s no accounting for taste.
