Anti-Aging Chocolate
When you think of food that is good for you, chocolate is generally pretty low on the list. But now one candy company has good news for your health and your sweet tooth.
Barry Callebaut, the world’s largest chocolate maker says they have developed a candy bar that can fight wrinkles and slow the aging process. Studies carried out by the company show eating 20 grams of the specially developed treat can boost elasticity and improve hydration in your skin.
Chocolate contains flavonols, which can slow down damage caused by free radicals like pollution, smoking and caffeine. And the Swiss company has found a way to preserve more of the flavonols during the chocolate making process.
Richard Hurrell, Professor of Human Nutrition at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology says flavonols also have a positive effect on the blood flow. Hurrell says eating more of this specific chocolate could reduce blood pressure, which could have a positive effect on cardiovascular disease. And it’s not bad for business either. The chocolate market, which covers everything from milk chocolate to diet chocolate, is seeing double digit growth. And with people adding a couple pieces to their diet and exercise routine, this latest treat could finally sweeten up the economy.
