YouTube Content

YouTube ContentYouTube is cleaning up its act and you might be just the person for the job.

By next year Google hopes to have an additional ten thousand people working to reduce the amount of what it calls problematic material on YouTube. This includes offensive content and comments, violence and harassment. The company also wants to introduce tougher restrictions on advertising and make better use of smarter technology to protect users.

In recent months the video streaming service has faced controversy over its content. It had to adopt tighter screening measures after it was discovered its kids channel had videos that contained violence and profanity. A number of big sponsors pulled their ads after discovering they were appearing alongside videos of a preacher spreading messages of hate.

Over the past six months the company’s trust and safety teams have viewed and analyzed more than two million controversial videos and the additional hires will help with that project. Although you probably won’t be able to do it from the couch, at least this means you could finally get paid to spend your days watching YouTube videos.
