Window Shopping

Window ShoppingIt’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, especially in store windows.

The concept of holiday store windows is said to have started back in the early 1870’s with Macy’s. Over the years many other major retailers such as Bloomingdale’s have jumped on board with designs of their own. Now the concept has become a sort of competition with stores trying to make their window displays bigger and better than those around them.

This year the decorating got off to an early start with Macy’s in New York debuting its windows on November 18th back before the turkey was even cooked. And every year just to hype up the competition Windows Wear takes a look at displays all over the world and ranks the windows that are must-see’s. This year there are five that Windows Wear says people in New York should stop and take a look at including Macy’s and its look at the many ways children can communicate with Santa.
