Travel Trends

[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]Airlines are trying to keep people in the air, but it looks like a lot of them would rather hit the road.

Recently just over 2,200 Americans were surveyed about their opinions of the top airlines. Of that number 49% said they have a favorable view of Southwest airlines. American, Delta and United were not far behind, followed by Jet Blue at 32% percent.

Bringing up the rear is Spirit Airlines with a 17% favorable rating. And while good news for most airlines that wasn’t the surprising thing Inc.com found in its survey. 67% percent said they would much rather skip the airport altogether and drive themselves. They said it was more comfortable, cheaper, efficient and less of a hassle than traveling by plane, train or bus.

But here’s the conundrum. In the same survey, Americans ranked Hawaii as their number one U.S. travel destination. The next big trend is towards foreign travel with the majority of younger travelers say they would rather head outside the U.S.

Pretty hard to do by car.
