Looking for a unique place to stay on your next trip; head to the arctic circle.
A futuristic ring-shaped hotel called Svart is currently being built in northern Norway, above the arctic circle. The circular hotel will be raised out over the water on wooden stilts and will offer guests three hundred and sixty degree views of the terrain.
But when doors open in the next three years, the hotel will be more than just something nice to look at; instead it will also be entirely sustainable and energy efficient. Compared to traditional hotels Svart will consume eighty five percent less energy, and over the course of six decades will generate more energy than it would take to build, run and ultimately demolish the building.
One of the partners say it was important to design a hotel that will leave a minimal imprint on the environment. And besides a unique experience, solar panels and geothermal wells visitors will also be able to fully immerse themselves in the area.
The hotel will also have active, nature driven experiences that include expeditions to see the northern lights, hiking and ice climbing.
