Kid-Friendly Alexa

by | Aug 31, 2018

[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]Not ready to share all of life’s secrets with your children? Now you can make sure even alexa doesn’t spill the beans.

Amazon has updated its voice assistant with a version that is more kid-friendly. When that free time feature is activated certain questions such as “where do babies come from” will be met with the response “please ask a grown up.”

Other features include keeping alexa from playing any songs with curse words. If asked to play a song that might be age inappropriate it will play a clean version if one is available. It can also be set not to answer during times when children should be sleeping or studying.

And it can help teach some manners. If your child demands an answer to a question alexa will remind them to use the word “please.” So what exactly is the kid friendly version telling the kids? When asked if Santa Claus is real it will answer, “just check if the cookies you set out for him christmas morning are gone.”

Now you have another way to make it through the “why” phase.
