At a recent real estate convention I spoke with Sherry Chris, Head of Better Homes and Gardens real estate. She says right now buyers must be patient. There’s a shortage of listings and that’s driving prices up.
I don’t see it changing because when you look at average home prices across the country we certainly don’t see those going down. So we don’t’ see mortgage rates going down either so the affordability is a combination of the average sale price in any community and what the buyer can afford.
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy if you find a good deal.
My best tip for consumers is that real estate is a great long term investment, your home will go up and down depending on the economic conditions but if you buy a home, pay your mortgage off, create equity and wealth for yourself at the same time as actually enjoying the american dream of home ownership, what could be better than that?
