Listen Now: Governor For A Day
New Hampshire’s governor is looking for a substitute; but there’s a catch.
Republican governor Chris Sununu is offering his job to a young lady from one of the state’s middle or high schools. He announced the competition earlier this week as part of the state’s celebration of women’s history month.
In order to apply, anyone interested should answer the prompt quote, “If I were governor for a day I would…” Applicants can answer in a written response of fewer than two hundred and fifty words or a one minute video. Written responses can be emailed to the governor of mailed to his office. Video responses must be sent as private messages to his facebook account.
The governor says the goal is to make sure the state’s next generation of leaders feel empowered to take a stand and lead the state. The contest is a partnership with numerous organizations including the Girl Scouts of America. Anyone interested needs to submit their response by the April 30th deadline.
So far no word on whether a similar contest will be open for male candidates.
