Checking things off your bucket list? There are a few financial goals you might want to check off as well.
Forty is considered a milestone birthday. At this point in your life you might have accomplished a number of things, from your dream job to traveling the world to starting a family. But before you get too settled in, experts say there are a few financial obligations you should have crossed off as well.
According to the financial services company The Motley Fool, there are four money moves you need to make before the big birthday. For example, have a fully loaded emergency fund. While it’s a good idea for everyone to have at least a six-month supply of cash in case something happens, the reality is few people do.
If you’re not there already, strive to use forty as your cutoff to achieve this goal. That way if you lose your job, or have an unexpected household expense, you can stay afloat.
