Fast Food FatLooks like more trouble for Chipotle, but this time instead of getting sick, customers are getting fat. Last year the fast food Mexican chain was hit hard by an outbreak of E. coli that affected about 60 people in 13 states. Since being declared bacteria free the company has been trying to lure back customers with new menu items and more promotions. But it looks like the legal troubles aren’t over with a handful of people in Los Angeles filing a lawsuit over what it calls false information. The plaintiffs say Chipotle leads customers to believe its food is healthier than it is through advertising and the calories listed on the menu. For example one of the company’s burritos is listed at having 300 calories but customers say that can’t be true because the tortilla alone has almost that much. The plaintiffs are asking for unspecified damages and an injunction to prevent the company from using misleading information on menus or campaigns. At least you can get rid of E.coli, fast food that doesn’t make your customers fat might be a hard battle to win.
