[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]The holiday shopping season seems to arrive a little earlier every year, but the middle of summer?
Despite a heatwave and that we just turned the corner into August, Santa Claus has been spotted at a popular department store in London. Wearing a studded leather jacket, sunglasses and holding a guitar, Saint Nick appeared at Selfridge’s recent event called “Selfridge’s Rocks Christmas.”
And despite the fact Santa had to leave The North Pole one hundred and forty four days early customers are demanding it. The store says people want to see Santa during the summer. They say as long as people are demanding to shop for Christmas they will meet that demand no matter what the calendar says.
The managing director says this is more than a shop, it’s retail theater and they want people to come enjoy an experience when they part with their hard-earned money. And the gimmicks pay off. Last year during the actual Christmas season, sales jumped ten percent when the store brought in characters and went a little overboard on the decorating.
Tis the season, all season.
