Portable Radiation

Have you ever wondered how much radiation from your cell phone is seeping into your blood stream? One company is hoping San Francisco consumers never find out.

Last month a federal court in San Francisco ruled that cell phone makers had to warn customers about the levels of radiation each phone gives off. Now the wireless Cita-The Wireless Trade Association is trying to block the law saying it will confuse, and not help shoppers.

Currently the law says stores must display radiation levels in their stores or face a $300. Plus shoppers have to be shown estimates of how much radiation from radio waves is being absorbed into their bodies. But don’t be too alarmed, all mobile phones in the United States must meet FCC standards regarding safe levels or radio wave exposure. And Cita is arguing that San Francisco’s law implies that the FCC standards are insufficient and that some phones are safer than others.

Cita spokesman John Walls says the law creates false fear and the FDA has found no link between health problems and cell phone radio waves. And radiation waves are not slowing consumer demand. Cell phones are the hottest tech gadgets selling worldwide. In India alone, companies sell seven million cell phones a month.
