An Apologetic Facebook

Facebook allows its users to connect with people all over the world. But recently the social networking site has come under fire for being a little too social with your personal information.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg switched into full damage control mode earlier this week in response to public dismay with facebook’s privacy settings. There is even a group on facebook calling for all members to delete their accounts on May 31st as a type of protest. Users of the site are upset with the latest privacy settings that make it harder to set your profile so only people of your choosing can see it.

The situation was made worse thanks to recent reports facebook had been passing along user names and id’s to advertisers. In a letter published in the Washington Post Zuckerberg is apologizing for the company’s new privacy settings. Zuckerberg says he thought that’s what the users wanted but they appear to have missed their mark. Zuckerberg says he wants to bring the company back to its core values which include seeking a better and more connected world. A nice thought so long as in today’s high tech society, at least some of your secrets can remain secret.
