Good Jobs in Bad Economy

It’s official. The country’s economy is in the toilet and chances are you or someone you know is looking for work. But where should your job hunt begin?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics lists the professional and service categories with the most job openings in the coming year. It includes careers such as a scientist, health care worker and artist in the professional category. In the service sector police officers and caretakers will add about one million more jobs to the economy.

Economist and University of San Francisco business professor Jon Fisher says you can also find a job in the software industry, if you’re willing to take the risk. He says Oracle, IBM and SAP are examples of companies focused on further entrenching themselves with their best customers. So those are companies that will withstand any downturn, and therefore good companies to consider for employment.

Fisher also says the education industry is growing despite the shrinking economy. Click on the video for his comments on education to further your career or get a job as a teacher. After all in this economy it pays to try everything.
